		<description>I so agree with the idea that Creativity is about work.  This isn&#039;t taught in schools, in fact, even children&#039;s books tend to make highly creative people seem odd, eccentric, geniuses, bur rarely do they highlight the work involved.</description>

		<description>I think that&#039;s exactly right, Bill. I wonder: do resume bots which scan for keywords miss all those kids who are liberal arts majors, and who might make the best hires in some cases? I often hired people without direct experience in the job they would be doing, based in other characteristics, well-roundedness being one of them. 

In &lt;i&gt;Outliers,&lt;/i&gt; Malcolm Gladwell cites the 10,000 hour rule, in which 10,000 hours of devotion to a discipline is often the bar for achieving mastery in the discipline...which does not leave a lot of time for other pursuits. This kind of mastery helps people to be creative within their domain - one must know the domain, generally speaking, to be able to be creative in it - but creative greatness most often comes when boundaries between domains are crossed.</description>

Take the simple example of putting together a resume. Have you ever breezed through helping someone else construct a resume, easily building on their strong points while down playing perceived weaknesses - and then finding yourself stymied when sitting down to your own resume?
